Our growth journey
From a small photo studio to a leading progressive school in Maharashtra, Pragnya Bodhini’s journey reflects a deep commitment to meaningful education and community impact. Explore our milestones.

Gijubhai Ramesh Bhai Shukla arrives in Mumbai from Sehore, Gujarat. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, whom he met briefly in jail, he believes:
“Education is the only thing that has the power to change the destiny of this nation.”
With no resources, he starts a Gujarati-medium school from a small photo studio.

To expand the school, Shukla Sir begins selling mangoes at Grant Road.
The funds raised help him buy the very plot where today stands the 7-storey Pragnya Bodhini building.

Thanks to Teacher Ruth Rose, the first English-medium batch begins with 42 students.
She volunteers every Thursday despite her job at St. Thomas, inspiring parents and students alike.

Pragnya Bodhini High School receives the Adarsh Shala Puraskar from the BMC Education Department, recognizing excellence in education.

The school joins AFS India, promoting intercultural learning.
Under Madam Seema Shaikh’s leadership, students participate in virtual and in-person AFS programs and the International AFS Ideathon.
